Combined Spawn/Bulk Kits
I’m trying my hand at making a grow bag that has both spawn grain and bulk substrate included in the same bag. The idea is to remove the exposure that occurs during the second inoculation (from spawn to bulk) from the process. To this end, I have created the following bags:
Masters Mix with Wild Bird Seed (WBS)

The Coco Coir recipe I am currently using is:
Coco Coir/Vermiculite (7.5 lbs)
1 block (650 gram) coco coir
8 cups vermiculite
2 cups peat moss
.5 cups worm castings
.25 cups calcium carbonate
16 cups water
To add Manure to the recipe I simply add the following to double the yield to 15 lbs:
16 cups horse manure
.5 cups Gypsum
4 cups water
For this first round, I have used the larger bags for the masters mix
and the longer bags for the coir-based substrates.
Each bag is sterilized and sealed. The inoculation port is at the top of the bag so that the spawn may be easily reached.
